About me
I am a licensed clinical social worker in Connecticut, who has been working in the field for over 10 years. I have a background in fine arts, and a master's degree from UCONN School of Social Work. I've worked in addiction counseling, clinical community work, and as a school social worker in varying levels of care. I have helped clients tackle a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, PTSD, ADHD, addiction, and PTSD. I have assisted adults, young adults and teens build skills to continue on a successful path through both individual and group sessions.
I believe in the power of talk therapy, and generally utilize CBT methods and Motivational Interviewing in my sessions. I provide a warm, friendly environment and have a natural ability to connect with others on a therapeutic level. I have had many life experiences in my 44 years, which provide me with the empathy and understanding necessary for good social work. I am a positive, forward thinker, who will help set attainable goals to reach your best self.
I am open to all needs from all people. I have zero tolerance for any hate or discrimination. I understand how hard it can be to take the first step and to begin this process. Through the pandemic, I have been working with middle and high school age teens. I am fluent in "teen talk". I am fully accepting and understanding of the support today's teens require. I have experience working with teens that struggle with depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, self harm, LGBTQ and sexual identity struggles, the risks of the internet, school based concerns, bullying, and the pressures of family and friends. I am here to listen, help and support your child as needed.
