About me
I am licensed in New York with over 9 years of professional work experience, which includes working within a high school setting. The adolescent stage of development can be very challenging for both a teen and their parent. My therapeutic approach in working with teens is to help teens develop the skills to navigate self exploration and equip parents with resources to meet the needs of their teenager. I have worked with teens and their parents to address depression, anxiety, ADHD, self image, substance use, school avoidance, trauma, and LGBTQ+ issues.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Shavonna Fitzgerald. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
Shavonna is an amazing therapist and has been wonderful helping our daughter through a difficult period in her life as well as supporting us as well. Truly blessed to have her.
Excellent therapist
I was unsure at first but she really showed a capacity to delve into concepts I needed to address.
Shavonna is wonderful! She listens, absorbs and advises incredibly well. I always look forward to our session because I know I’ll have a safe space to talk through my feelings and that I’ll feel better after. I always leave with great advice and things to keep in mind to help me navigate day-to-day. Highly recommend!
Shavonna has been amazing over the past few months. I truly feel seen and supported during our sessions. I look forward to speaking with her weekly!
I’d like to say thank you to Shavonna. My daughter was in real crisis when we had to find help, and I’d like to add she was and is still very talk therapy resistant. Shavonna took time to communicate with me regarding what my daughter had been going through prior to the first therapy session. I believe she approached my daughter in a way that made her comfortable and allowed her space to find their own voice. She has been kind, patient, encouraging and thoughtful. My daughter is still very reserved and is extremely hesitant to talk about her feelings, fears, and what’s going on in her life but looks forward to her weekly sessions and that’s a gift in itself. She is getting there, and we couldn’t be more grateful. Before therapy she did not look forward to anything and was hopeless. We we’re losing her, and watching her withdraw more day by day. Thank you Shavonna for your time and for being there when she needed help the most. The sessions allow her to escape the anxiety and stressors she’s experiencing and to get the break of stepping out of her “life” even if it’s just a half hour or an hour a week.
I am so glad I have Shavonna. Her ability to listen and give me the resources to make this situation not a forever thing but one I can learn and move on as a better person. I am grateful for this platform. I am a work in progress!
Shavonna is absolutely the best. Very attentive and years of experience. I’m so thankful for this opportunity
