About me

My name is Ryan Findley and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor. I'm in my 12th year as a practicing professional, though my exposure to therapy and the therapeutic process spans over two decades. I've practiced within a wide variety of settings which include working with highly creative teens at an Arts Magnet School, overseeing complex cases involving domestic violence and abuse as part of a community outreach initiative, and providing individual and group therapy for individuals looking to readjust to life after in-patient care.
In addition to telehealth therapy with BetterHelp, I work primarily within my private practice. If I were to sum up what I do in one sentence it would be, "Helping people develop and maintain an authentic sense of self amid challenge and change, through empowerment, removal of expectations and reframing issues for healthier relations with others and self."
I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, coping with addictions, family conflicts, & trauma and abuse. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.

Ryan has helped me discover things about myself that I didn’t know before. He really understands the ins and outs of trauma and teaches how certain ways of feeling trace back to it AND helps me face and overcome it. The things I went into therapy thinking I needed to focus on ended up being only a symptom of the root cause and Ryan has challenged my thinking and I still use phrases from him daily to remind myself I am worth the work.

Ryan did an excellent job helping me target and work through specific therapeutic goals in a timely manner, and offered me several adjunctive support suggestions that I found very useful. Highly recommend him for anyone who appreciates directness and solution-oriented thinking in a therapist, as well as for anyone who needs someone considerate of chronic pain.

I have only had a couple of sessions with Ryan but they have already been so helpful to me and my healing journey. He actively listens to everything I say and through this is able to help me process and understand my emotions better. He gives a balance of making sure I am accountable and learning from my past but also kind to myself as I process deep wounds. I Highly recommend his sessions!

I consider myself lucky to have been paired with Ryan. He has proven to be a great listener who is adept at interpreting complicated dynamics and emotions (which are difficult to articulate in the first place). He is very considerate and kind and I feel very comfortable speaking with him, no matter the subject. I am very pleased with the process so far and I am keen to continue with him.

Thanks for all that you do!

Ryan Findley digs deep into the issues that may have kept you from experiencing your true purpose and understands how you can find a life of freedom away from your destructive addictions or habits. Is a good listener and keeps track of the conversations from one session to another asking the important questions that open up possibilities for new behaviours.

This being my introduction to therapy as an adult, I am so pleased and feel very safe with Ryan as my therapist. I've considered my sessions with him like that of my personal emotional/mental hyperbaric chamber - the world seems to stand still and my healing is of utmost importance. I'm very grateful for Ryan's attentiveness, gentle spirit, availability, direction, and expertise. I look forward to our continued work together.
