About me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor(LPC) and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Louisiana. I have worked in social services for over 25 years in various capacities--as a direct care worker in a group home for developmentally-disabled adults, as a staff worker at a homeless shelter for teens, as a licensed counselor in a crisis counseling program in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and as a Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) working with children, teens, and adults who receive Medicaid. The clients I have helped have struggled with depression, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, Panic Disorder, and Bipolar Disorder.

As a parent with two--and almost three--teenagers I can attest to the challenges. The challenges of dealing with children or quite different than those of dealing with teenagers. It does seem to take a whole different inventory of skills. And sometimes without outside help it can feel like you're stuck in the same dance day after day.

I try to help parents feel supported and give them new ways (some counterintuitive) to deal with their teens. I work from a client-centered approach and I try to slowly expand the viewpoint the parents have to approach their situation.

Written on Nov 09, 2023 after therapy with Mark for 6 months on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, addictions, trauma and abuse, grief, intimacy-related issues, sleeping disorders, coping with life changes, and adhd

Mark has been a great help to me and a consistent strong and reliable therapist to discuss my issues. He’s a really great listener and not quick to judge (essential but not all that common among psychotherapists), very open and warm and humble (also not as common as it should be!).
I highly recommend Mark.

Mark is a great listener and is going above and beyond to figure out together with me how to support me best. And outside of the videocalls, is also taking the time to read and reply all my other written messages. Highly recommended.

Written on Feb 26, 2022 after therapy with Mark for 2 weeks on issues concerning stress, anxiety, addictions, lgbt, intimacy-related issues, and adhd

Mark has helped me understand my addiction and how it relates to my ADHD. He listens intently and tells me what I need to hear, not what I want to hear. He also gives me homework and tools I utilize to cope with temptation. After a few sessions you will notice how beneficial his counselling is with managing your problems.

Mark makes me feel comfortable and is very respectable. I have tried other counselors and none compare to the level of comfort and understanding I received from Mark.

Mark is the best therapist I've had. No one has ever made me feel so validated and understood. He has this innate gift of reading my mind. His method helps me to figure things out for myself; he guides me to the answers, as opposed to spoon feeding me solutions.

Mark has been really understanding and kind. He carefully listens to you, even if you're venting and I think that in itself allows us to feel like someone really understands what we are going through.

Mark Haas is by far the most remarkable therapist I’ve been fortunate enough to find. And teencounseling.com provided me with his expertise. He opened my mind and view to things that I simply couldn’t have done without him. I highly suggest him. Easy to share your most darkest and vulnerable feelings with. He always checked on me. And always made time for me. Very understandable and made me feel valid. He reached out at later hours as well. And that’s hard to find! I will miss him dearly. Ask for me before he’s all booked up! You will be feeling like a million bucks with his help with WHATEVER you are struggling with.

Work with me!
