About me
I have been working as a therapist since 2008 in both private practice and community-based settings. The diagnoses that I have the most experience with are Anxiety Disorders, PTSD, Depression and other mood disorders, Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Conduct Disorder, as well as developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, behavior problems, and abuse/neglect circumstances. Additionally, I have done extensive training/work with crisis intervention, addressing traumatic experiences, parenting difficulties (ie, behavior management), challenges that are unique to foster care/adoption circumstances, and self-harming behavior. I am very familiar with working with youth who are in foster care, involved with juvenile court, and/or receiving special education services. I am a fully licensed Master's level social worker, and am certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I have also completed advanced trainings in Motivational Interviewing and in various parenting strategies/interventions. For me, it is very important to take the time to understand my client's circumstances and the factors contributing to the current challenges in your life. I take a strengths-based approach when working with all of my clients because I believe that you are so much more than just a list of symptoms or problems.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Irene Kyprianides. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
Irene is a gem! So glad my daughter has her to guide her!
Irene is amazing and I couldn’t ask for a better therapist. Weekly sessions feel as comfortable as a weekly catch up with a friend. I do most of the talking, while Irene offers validation to my experiences while offering perspectives and questions that typically allow me to think more deeply and form a better understanding of the topics we discuss. I was a bit nervous about what my experience would be like with teencounseling.com, but I am extremely lucky that I got matched with Irene.
Irene has been very patient, understanding and supportive. Starting therapy is hard, and it’s also hard to find someone that is all three things listed above so to have found a therapist that has been patient, understanding and supportive goes a long way. Even if you don’t have a live session scheduled, Irene will reach out and give you tools to use to help you with whatever it is you’re dealing with.
Great therapist!
Very professional. Understands and helps me.
Irene takes the time to understand my needs and issues before applying her knowledge, experience and overall expertise to my situation, providing advice and opportunities for skills practice.
Irene has been lovely to talk to with our teen. She is a good listener, asks challenging and accepting questions, and is flexible with ways of communicating.
